Meet Abraham!
Waukegan isn't just where I live—it's the community that raised me.
I am a lifelong Waukegan resident and the son of Mexican immigrants who worked hard to build a life and raise their family here. Growing up in Waukegan taught me the importance of hard work, perseverance, community, and public service.
My journey began in Waukegan's classrooms. I attended Andrew Cooke Elementary School, Daniel Webster Middle School—now Edith M. Smith Middle School—and graduated from Waukegan High School in 2019.
I continued my education at the College of Lake County, earning my associate degree in Political Science in 2021, before graduating from Northern Illinois University in 2023 with my bachelor's degree in Political Science. My education strengthened my understanding of government and public policy and reinforced my belief that government works best when people are informed, represented, and involved.
Today, I work in public service as a supervisor with the Illinois Secretary of State's office, where I have seen firsthand the importance of making government accessible, responsive, and focused on the people it serves.
I'm running for Alderman because I believe the 5th Ward deserves leadership that is present in our neighborhoods, communicates with residents, listens to their concerns, and advocates for them at City Hall.
As a young leader, a first-generation American, and a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I understand the importance of ensuring that people from every background know their voices belong in our local government.
For 25 years, Waukegan has been my home. Now I'm ready to give back to the community that has given me so much.
It's time for a new perspective and a renewed commitment to public service.
Forward Together.
