I'm Abraham Palomar, a lifelong Waukegan resident who was born and raised in the community I proudly call home. Waukegan has shaped who I am today, and I am ready to give back through public service to the community that has given me so much.
As a Democratic candidate for Alderman of the 5th Ward, my priorities include improving neighborhood infrastructure, strengthening public safety, supporting responsible economic development, protecting our environment, and ensuring fiscal responsibility at City Hall.
Above all, I am committed to being an accessible, responsive, and engaged advocate for every resident, bringing a new perspective to local government and working toward a stronger, safer, and more prosperous 5th Ward.

Standing up against ICE
I will continue to stand up against ICE and advocate for the rights, dignity, and safety of our immigrant families, friends, and neighbors. Being an alderman is more than simply holding a seat on the City Council—it means using that position to speak out against injustice, stand alongside our community, and be a voice for those who feel unheard.
Engaging in community conversations
I believe in being actively involved in meaningful community conversations that address the issues affecting our residents, ensuring that I remain informed, engaged, and connected to the needs of our community. As Alderman, I will prioritize sharing important information, encouraging open dialogue, and ensuring that our neighbors have a voice in the decisions that impact their lives.
Embracing LGBTQ+ rights
As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I understand firsthand the importance of equality, acceptance, and standing up for the rights and dignity of every individual. I will continue to be a strong advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, ensuring that everyone in our community feels respected, represented, and valued for who they are.
